Greetings,
How's it going? been working our butts off getting ready for Billings
next weekend.
I spoke with Hugh Fleming at the AMA yesterday,he is now the guy we
need to work with on settng up a series , Rob King is in charge of Pro
stuff, Hugh is Pro-Am. He said that this fall they (AMA) would be more
than willing to meet with us to set up a sanctioned series. I told him
that your climb at Cowley might be the best time and place to catch up
with everyone, what do you think Kelly ? maybe when you do your mailing
can we stuff a note along with it telling riders what is going on ?
Nothing new on the Park city club, I put the Klunkers together with
them . To make this angle work we all need to do some seed planting , if
we can create interest in the Vintage riders camp--(AHRMA )--in
hillclimbing
then that will open a door for a Pro-Am event in Park city.
If we can develop / nuture a interest with AHRMA it will go a long
way towards the success of anything we do, man these AHRMA guys will
crate bikes up and ship them all over the world for an event, that kind
of coomitment (and deep pockets ) will really be an assett, and besides
one of the oldest forms of competition is motorcycle hillclimbing.
Almost forgot , eveyone this is Richard, he wants to help out ,also
webtv set me up with a web page ( click below ) I have some links on
there you might enjoy.
Well , see you all in Billings !

One of the most exciting motorsport
races to be witnessed is the
motorcycle hillclimb. Freemansburg
is a serious challenge on the AMA
PRO circuit. The riders go from a
standing start and fly over three
jumps on nitro-methane burning
machines on their way up a 500+ foot
hill that goes almost vertical
near the top!

Hello
Im not sure where you are located but I thought being a fellow
hillclimber you would want to know that the last climb at Jolly Rogers
here in Seattle is scheduled for August 15 1998.This hill has been in
use since the early thirties and is considered one of the best hills on
the west coast.I have ridden all the hills in our region including
Billings, Holister and Carnigie and belive Jolly Rogers is the best of
them all.The property has been sold for development and will never be
used again for climbs.I also have information on our points series here
in the PNW and if you would like I can share same with you.
Even though I cant hold a candle to your Harley I do Ride a tricked
out 1000cc Kawasaki up hill and would be honored to ride with you
guys.Drop me a note and let me know if there is anything we can exchange
info on and keep on going uphill.
Like my 8 year old daughter,who is a veteran climber,likes to say"More
right hand Dad".

Many times it takes less horse power to do the job too!!! You sound like a very good rider - Doc Hemp - Hopefully Bob & Roger can take you up on that someday.

Well- I did it. Almost. My buddy Jeff Brown ( #32 ) let me try his
hillclimber today. I made it 2/3 of the way up on my first attempt. The
second try, I was a lot braver and got a good launch. But I threw the
chain on the second jump. Oh well. I'm 37 years young today, and I tried
something I've wanted to do for a while. Now, how do I break it to the
wife that I want to build a hillclimber? -Steve
