Udate - 9-11-08 over 3 years now and no more than 2-3 lbs change in any one
month over this entire time .. not once have I gone over my target weight at
my monthly weigh in. The first time in my life with this kind of consistency.
And Becky has done very close to this too.
Becky and I decided to do Weight Watchers together which is as guaranteed a way as there is in this world to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF!. No special foods to buy .. and the free LIfe Membership keeps one focused if you just keep your food and exercise journal and weigh in once or twice a month. Over 90% keep the weight off as long as they continue their free monthly life membership visits and daily food journal! Conversely ... about 90% put it back on after they quit it.
We have about 60 different very tasty high fiber, low fat, low sugar foods we surround ourselves with in our home. We have to shop in about 5 different markets to find it all. There are so many great tasting things now a days to replace all the old things we used to use.
We have both been at our target weight for well over one year now ... and have maintained within 2 - 3 lbs during that time.
Although ... My doctor has raised my target weight 5 lbs since I am putting on more muscle and thus a few more pounds on purpose since finally being able to get back to the weight lifting since my right shoulder has finally healed.
Like I said at the top here ... I definitely have a fat person inside trying to get out! ... I have the fat genes on both sides of my family ...... I will admit that I do have to work hard and stay focused to maintain .... Losing the weight is the easiest thing for all of us .... we have all done it many times before .... Keeping it off and managed to with in a few pounds is what takes the discipline and constant focus for most of us ....
Becky and I walk about 25 - 30 miles per week .... an average of 1hr EVERY morning .... Also if too wet and windy we use our New Balance 9000 Elliptical Trainer which we really like. I also work out with the weights at the gym 3 - 5 days per week .... I choose to all do this so I can eat more (points) of the good stuff and stay fit for Snow Skiing, etc. The workouts at the gym I really look forward to as it is like a comfort food ... very relaxing as I have done this for most of my life even when heavier.
"PHYSICAL FITNESS AND HEALTH MUST BE OUR FIRST PRIORITY ESPECIALLY AS WE AGE"
"What profits a man if he loses his health and fitness to amass a fortune he prolly won't even be around long enough or fit enough to enjoy?" .... Of course ... being fit and having a few bucks too ain't bad either .....( ; > )
