Colorado's Vintage Railways (And New Mexico)
The Cumbres & Toltec Railroad is one of our most favorites! In fact we are "FRIENDS"
(supporters) of this
railroad to help keep this STEAM alive for generations to come and we invite all
of you to do the same. This 64 mile trip goes through all types of scenery and
from Antonito Colorado to Chama New Mexico. Much of it looks like the vast
green valleys and
mountains of Switzerland! You will see by the photos!
When in Colorado
you must ride both this Cumbres/Toltec and The Durango/Silverton .. These are
the two (BEST STEAM ENGINE RIDES IN THE WORLD BAR NONE!)
Combres/Toltec have 3 different classes of steam engines and one diesel
switcher type .. see scan below off their info.
Just a note here ... Merle Haggard lives about a mile away from me & Becky.
So .. I am going to print this photo and send it to Merle .. (Karol
had just gone to Merle's concert July 10th at the riverside casino in Iowa).
Wow! This is really authenic! .. They are still using Sears Catalogs in there!
