Let me tell you ... No one on these tours are quitters! .... EVERYTHING is done to be able to continue ... even breaking down the motor, etc ... On the one pictured the plan was to unplug the spark plug .. turn the piston upside down to seal the cylinder .... only problem was the bearing was broken and the crank scored .. just couldn't be done. One of the others had a broken axle, got that welded but the drum was bent out of round. Things do happen .. I would estimate about 10% weren't able to finish the whole tour with the car they started with.
